Located just 3/4 mile east of downtown Fort Myers, Florida, the historic Rock Lake Motel is a charming vacation resort. Originally constructed in 1946/1947 by James Morre, the circular lake was formed using coral rock from the site. The 9 cottages (with 18 units) built around the circular lake all have sitting porches to enjoy the view. Dolphins decorate the edge of the lake, shooting water gracefully into the air.
Behind the cottages, Billy Creek offers a chance to canoe or kayak or even take a small motor boat out to the Caloosahatchee River. Fort Myers, dubbed the City of Palms after the miles of royal palms planted along both sides
of McGregor Blvd., First St. & Palm Beach Blvd. is a regional center for culture in Lee Country.
Going Around In The Right Circles Downtown Fort Myers has been undergoing a facelift the past couple of years and is now home to several theaters, restaurants, nightclubs, coffee shops, and wine and cigar bars. Close by the Harborside Convention Complex, City of Palms Park, where the Boston Red Sox hold spring training; Edison-Ford Winter Estates, where famous inventor Thomas Edison, his wife, Mina Edison, and their friend, Henry Ford, resided for many years, and the Imaginarium, a Hands-On Museum and Aquarium. Across
from the City of Palms Park is the Skatium, a $3.2 million ice-skating and in-line skating center.
Tourism is the No. 1 industry with Lee Country attracting 1.8 million people from over the U.S. and world. Why not find out for yourself, and go around in the right circles?
